LEADER: And they sang the song of Moses the bond-servant of God and the song of the Lamb, saying,

CONGREGATION: Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of ages. 

LEADER: Who will not fear you and bring glory to your name?

CONGREGATION: For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.

RESPONSIVE READING: Hebrews 2:10-18 (ESV)

LEADER: For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.

CONGREGATION: For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. 

LEADER: That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”

CONGREGATION: And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.”

LEADER: Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

CONGREGATION: For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 

LEADER: Therefore, he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

CONGREGATION: For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Prayer Time

• Pray for our nation – that the good news of Jesus Christ would draw people to know God genuinely and personally.
• Pray for those suffering from the ongoing spread of the coronavirus.
• Pray for those experiencing racial injustices; specifically, that God would bring hope, reconciliation, and restoration through the good news of His Son.
• Pray for those in authority at every level in our country, that they would govern wisely and justly.

Haggai 2:20-23, Hebrews 12:26-29 (ESV)

Haggai 2

¹⁸ Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid, consider: ¹⁹ Is the seed yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.”

²⁰ The word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, ²¹ “Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I am about to shake the heavens and the earth, ²² and to overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I am about to destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, and overthrow the chariots and their riders. And the horses and their riders shall go down, every one by the sword of his brother. ²³ On that day, declares the Lord of hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel, declares the Lord, and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the Lord of hosts.”

Hebrews 12

²⁶ At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” ²⁷ This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. ²⁸ Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, ²⁹ for our God is a consuming fire.

Confession of Faith

LEADER: And I saw in the middle of the throne a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying,

CONGREGATION: “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”

LEADER: And I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,

CONGREGATION:  “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”

LEADER: And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them I heard saying,

CONGREGATION: “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever!”

Luke 12:29-32

LEADER: Do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
