Time of Reflection Quotations
“Knowing that Christ understands our pain isn’t just head knowledge that we are meant to soak up and do nothing with. Knowing that Christ understands should move us to run to his very own heart.”
~Meredith Dixon, Writer for Rooted Ministry
“Now the curse it has been broken
Jesus paid the price for me
Full, the pardon He has offered
Great, the welcome that I receive.
Boldly I approach my Father
Clothed in Jesus’ righteousness
There is no more guilt to carry
It was finished upon that cross.”
~CityAlight, “It Was Finished Upon That Cross”
“Our testimony is not ‘I was a mess, then Jesus showed up, and now I’ve got everything together,’ but ‘I was a mess—and I still am—but I’m a mess who belongs to Jesus, a mess he is committed to sorting out. He came to me, has stuck with me, and continues to be my all in all.’”
~Sam Allberry, Pastor & Author
“Do you feel friendless and afraid? Jesus, the forsaken one, can sympathize with you. Do you feel swallowed by a sorrow that no one understands? Jesus, the grief-stricken one, can sympathize with you. Do you feel your body breaking? Jesus, the beaten and crucified one, can sympathize with you….
Come to his throne of grace. There you will find one like yourself. He will welcome you. He will sympathize with you. And gradually, he will conform you, a deeply flawed son or daughter of Adam, into the image of his perfect humanity.”

Sermon Passage
Mark 1:40-45 (ESV)
40 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” 41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.” 42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. 43 And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” 45 But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter.
